South Korean filmfest to screen Iran’s ‘Suddenly a Tree’

Iranian feature ‘Suddenly a Tree’ has been scheduled to go on screen at the 24th edition of the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea.

Directed by Safi Yazdanian, the film will go on screen at a section titled A Window on Asian Cinema, dedicated to Asian filmmakers.

The story of ‘Suddenly a Tree’ is set during Iraq-Iran war, when Farhad gets arrested for an illegal attempt to immigrate.

Being released after some years, he decides to go after the love of his life, Mahtab.

The film follows Farhad’s life as he talks to his psychiatrist about his childhood and adulthood.

Peyman Maadi, Mahnaz Afshar, Zohreh Abbasi, Siamak Safari, Shaqayeq Dehqan, Mehrab Qasemkhani, Pantea Panahiha, and Arman Moradi are among the actors of ‘Suddenly a Tree’.

The film was nominated for Best Supporting Actress and Best Soundtrack at the 37th Fajr Film Festival in Iran.

Founded in 1996, the Busan International Film Festival is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia.

The 24th Busan International Film Festival is slated for October 3-12, 2019.
